Insite editing

In the insite edit mode, the editor may browse directly through the web presentation preview, and change, add or remove content. Editor may switch between preview-only mode, and editing mode, by pressing the F9 key.

Insite edit mode is especially useful for casual or less experienced users, but for advanced users is beneficial too. The main advantage is that the edit tools are put in context of the displayed page. The editor can see which parts of the page are editable, and the effect of his modifications is shown instantly.

Insite edit mode is usually customized for given web presentation. If you cannot modify some content displayed on the page, contact your web site administrator to configure insite edit appropriately.

Toolbar

The upper-left corner of the presentation displays the Show/hide toolbar icon (). The same cah by achieved by pressing the Ctrl+F9 key. The toolbar includes the following controls:

Edit mode

Validity mode

In the default validity mode, the same rules are used to display content as when the real web presentation is displayed. To evaluate time-dependent conditions, current time is used. All data sources do not return assets that are marked as disabled. Such content is thus not displayed in the insite edit, you cannot modify them or change their validity rules.

To change the validity mode, use the  Set validity mode command from the current project control. In the validity settings, you can:

  1. Change the evaluation of time-dependent rules. You may shift the current time to arbitrary instant in the past or future, or show all assets regardles their time validity.
  2. Enable displaying content that is marked as disabled.

Modifying text

Modifiable text is marked by colored area (usually green). Clicking the area displays visual text editor with toolbar, which you can use to modify the text or change its formatting. To save changes in the text, use the Save button (), the cancel button () abandons the changes and leaves the content unmodified. The visual editor offers formatting options according to the configuration of your web presentation. See also Text processing.

Add / modify article, photo etc

If insite edit configuration allows to add or modify references, tags, illustration images, articles, etc, the editing mode usually indicates this by displaying predefined action button. These actions are customized, you may find their description in the User's guide annex for your presentation.
